COLUMBUS — Ohio State has been completely dominant in the first two games of the season. But the individual performances from the Buckeyes biggest stars just aren’t enough to keep them in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy — as of now.

Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard currently has the ninth best odds to win the Heisman Trophy. He’s currently 20-1 (+2000) to win the award. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers (+500) is the favorite through a couple of weeks. Miami quarterback Cam Ward (+750) and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck (+850) round out the clear top three.

Other Ohio State players odds include wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (+7500), running back Quinshon Judkins (+10000), running back TreVeyon Henderson (+13000) and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (+18000).

Ohio State has the week off this upcoming weekend, but it will be back in action against Marshall on Sept. 21. Potential Heisman campaigns for the Buckeyes will continue then.

Buckeyes will play Marshall at Noon on Sept. 21

Ohio State doesn’t play this week. Neither does Marshall. The next time these teams play, they’ll be on the same field. Now the kickoff time for the Buckeyes’ final nonconference game of the regular season has been set.

The Buckeyes will face Marshall in the early window on Sept. 21, and they’ll get the FOX Big Noon Kickoff treatment for the first time this season.

Ohio State is coming off a pair of easy tune-up wins, those coming against MAC opponents Akron and Western Michigan. The early portion of the Buckeyes slate hasn’t provided much excitement as they have cruised to a 2-0 record.

Marshall, meanwhile, destroyed Stony Brook in a 45-3 win before falling on Saturday to Virginia Tech. The Hokies won 31-14.

With just two games under their belts, the Buckeyes still want to see plenty of improvement, which is why they’re calling this off week an ‘improvement week.’ They’re already at work.

ICYMI: Buckeyes fall in AP Poll despite blowout win

Ohio State did everything it could have done to prove it is one of the top teams in college football after two weeks — because it is.

The problem for the Buckeyes is that one of the teams that were ranked directly behind them in the AP Poll last week went on the road and destroyed a top-10 team.

As a result of Texas’ 31-12 win over Michigan in the Big House and Ohio State opening the season with a pair of wins over MAC programs, the Longhorns skipped over the Buckeyes to become the No. 2 team in the country. Ohio State is now No. 3 after its own emphatic win, a 56-0 decimation of Western Michigan.

Ohio State received five first-place votes. Georgia is No. 1 still, earning 54 first-place votes. Texas was No. 1 on four ballots this week. Alabama and Ole Miss round out the top five.

The AP Top 10 can be found below.
