Viewing Guide: How to watch Buckeyes in trophy-game trip to Illinois

COLUMBUS — Ohio State faced its toughest test of the season last week and walked away with a top-10 win.

But after the Hoosiers closed a four-touchdown margin down to one possession and passed for nearly 500 yards, the Buckeyes aren’t yet content as they head to Illinois on Saturday.

“I really think after four games, and a body of work, we can do a great job this week of identifying the issues that are holding us back from pulling away from teams, address them and get better right here,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said Tuesday. “I was hoping that going into the Maryland game was the same way, we had that week off. So now, we have this Indiana game on film. We’ve got to really spend a bunch of time and make sure that everything we’re doing is towards getting better.

“I think that’s what good teams can do. But there’s a lot of good things going on and I don’t think we’re that far away.”

Although the return of the Illibuck Trophy will not be the most difficult game on the schedule, Saturday’s game provides the Buckeyes with an opportunity to mend some of its flaws. Ohio State is a heavy road favorite over Illinois, and the series has not seen a single-digit scoring margin since the Illini walked out of Columbus with a win in 2007. 

“[Illinois] is definitely a solid team,” senior linebacker Tuf Borland said Tuesday. “They are well coached. They have talent. They’ve given people problems throughout the season. So we know, as Ohio State, we’re going to get everyone’s best shot every week. So we’re going to be ready for that.”
