COLUMBUS — Ohio State wrapped up nonconference way in dominant fashion by rushing for 280 yards. Nearly all of that rushing total came from the co-offensive players of the game.

Yes, the Buckeyes revealed Sunday the players of the game from their 49-14 win over Marshall on Saturday. TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, the incredible pair of tailbacks, split offensive honors. Judkins led the way with 14 carries for 173 yards and two touchdowns, including an 86-yard score, while Henderson had 76 yards and two scores of his own on just six carries. They certainly earned the player of the game award.

No Buckeyes were named player of the game on the defensive side. The Buckeyes program didn’t announce one, at least.

As for special teams, senior cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. earned player of the game honors in that phase for the second straight game. He had a pair of tackles on special teams for Ohio State.

Ohio State remains No. 3 in latest AP Poll

Ohio State destroyed all three of its nonconference opponents to open the regular season. The competition was no stiff at all, but the Buckeyes took care of business.

Now they head into conference play with plenty of confidence and the same sky-high expectations they had entering the season.

The folks in the media still think Ohio State is one of the three best teams in the country entering Big Ten action, and they showed that yet again this week. The Buckeyes are No. 3 in the latest poll, staying put in the third spot behind top-ranked Texas and Georgia.

Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami (FL), Oregon, Penn State and Utah rounded out the top 10.

The AP Top 10 can be found below. First-place votes are in parenthesis.

1. Texas (44)
2. Georgia (13)
3. Ohio State (5)
4. Alabama
5. Tennessee
6. Ole Miss
7. Miami (FL)
8. Oregon
9. Penn State
10. Utah

Buckeyes open as heavy favorite at Michigan State

Ohio State closed out nonconference play with a second straight offensive explosion. Following a 56-point outburst against Western Michigan two weeks ago, the Buckeyes had 49 points on 57 plays Saturday vs. Marshall. Now, this offensive show will go on the road for the first time, and it’ll do so in prime time.

Because of how good this Buckeyes offense has shown to be and how good we know this defense to be, Ohio State opened as a 24.5-point favorite for the road opener at Michigan State (7:30 p.m., Peacock).

The total has been set at 49.5.

If the Ohio State offense can travel as well as we expect this defense to travel, the Buckeyes will have no problem next weekend, even in a primetime slot at Michigan State. Because this Buckeyes offense has been really good for the last couple of weeks.
