COLUMBUS — The dust continues to settle from one of the biggest upsets in the history of the Ohio State vs. Michigan rivalry.

The Buckeyes were a three-score favorite at home and somehow managed to lose to a Michigan team that had just 62 passing yards and two turnovers. Ohio State had nearly every advantage — and still lost.

Ryan Day officially has a huge Michigan problem after falling to 1-4 in the rivalry game. You can read more about that here.

Ohio State now has the awkward transition period between the loss and the College Football Playoff, which the Buckeyes are still going to be a part of. That can be found here.

The ProFootball Focus grades and snap counts can be found here. Spoiler alert: a lot of the offensive grades are ugly.

AD Ross Bjork has message for Ryan Day

When speaking to the Columbus Dispatch on Sunday, Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork had this to say about Ryan Day’s job security after Day’s fourth straight loss to Michigan:

“Our full focus right now is on the College Football Playoff and making a strong run,” Bjork said. “We have a ton to play for. We have a great team made up of talented players and great young men. Coach Day does a great job leading our program. He’s our coach. There’s going to be plenty of time to dissect what happened in the rivalry game the last couple years. But right now, we have to keep the main thing the main thing, and that’s focus on the values of the program, focus on why we lead the young men, focus on the mission and the playoff.”

AP Poll: Buckeyes tumble after loss

The unthinkable happened for Ohio State on Saturday; the Buckeyes lost to Michigan for the fourth straight year.

This time was supposed to be different. The Buckeyes entered as a three-score favorite and No. 2 in the AP Poll. Michigan entered as a 6-5 team having one of its worst seasons in the last decade. Ohio State was even at home for this game. And it still could not beat the rival as Ryan Day fell to a ghastly 1-4 record in The Game.

With that loss, the Buckeyes fell all the way down to No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 rankings on Sunday.

Oregon retained the top spot after beating rival Washington. Texas moved into the second spot, while Penn State, Notre Dame and Georgia rounded out the top five.

The Buckeyes do not care about any rankings, especially this set. It’s just another part of a disappointing weekend for the program.
