Talking Stuff: Jack Sawyer breaks down 'Buckeyes Bash,' Derrick Davis to visit
COLUMBUS — The Buckeyes Bash weekend is finally here and Ohio State is now set to host a pair of its top, uncommitted recruiting targets in the Class of 2021.
5-star offensive lineman Tristan Leigh has been on the expected visitor list for a few weeks now but the big news on Thursday is that Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway High School defensive back Derrick Davis is now expecting to attend after previously planning a trip to Georgia this weekend instead.
That means a final chance for the Buckeyes to try and convince the 4-star safety — the nation’s No. 2-ranked safety according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings — that Ohio State is the best place for him despite the fact that six other defensive backs are already committed. No defensive back, committed or otherwise, has been recruited as long and as hard as Davis has by this Buckeyes coaching staff and it’s the sole reason why Ohio State has remained a viable option to land him even with the host of players already committed to Kerry Coombs, Matt Barnes and Ryan Day.
