Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise! Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Nick Bosa talks title

Ohio State captains spoke to the media on Tuesday night, and Nick Bosa delivered a pretty accurate assessment of Ohio State’s current talent level. The Buckeyes match up well on paper against just about anyone, which means the biggest prize is in play.

“My No. 1 goal is to win a national championship,” Bosa said. “It’s just, there’s no reason we shouldn’t win a national championship. Sometimes I just look back at who is playing behind me on the defense, and then I see Dwayne [Haskins] throwing to our receiving corps, [see] Mike [Weber] and J.K. [Dobbins] in the backfield and our offensive line that I face every day and know is so much better than the ones I face [in games].

“It’s just like: I don’t know why we shouldn’t be playing for one.”

5-star OG set to visit Ohio State

Oak Park (Mich.) 2020 offensive guard Justin Rogers will soon be back at Ohio State for an unofficial visit. He told Lettermen Row he’ll be heading to Columbus for the game against Rutgers on Sept. 8.

Ohio State releases depth chart

Ohio State released its first depth chart on Tuesday afternoon. There weren’t many surprises after Monday’s announcements, but the full depth chart can be seen here.

Ryan Day is acing his audition

Acting head coach Ryan Day has done an impressive job in Urban Meyer’s absence. Lettermen Row senior writer Austin Ward wrote a column noting that Day’s stock has only increased over the last month. Here’s part of what he had to say:

Rven if Day might bristle at the notion that he’s filling Meyer’s shoes, somebody had to lace them up while he was on paid administrative leave during training camp. Somebody has to handle the duties on game day while Meyer is suspended. And somebody had to finally break the media silence and offer a reminder that Ohio State remains in better shape than almost any program in America and is ready to go to work on Saturday at the Horseshoe.

Ryan Day is the one doing it. And with every passing minute on Monday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, it was easier and easier to envision him as a full-time coach. And the price tag kept going up right along with it if Ohio State wants to keep Day around for as the heir apparent.

Tuf Borland back?

Tuf Borland, who sustained an Achilles injury this past spring, won’t start against Oregon State on Saturday. However, he said he’s ready to play if needed.

Counting down

  • Ohio State season opener: 3 days
  • Urban Meyer allowed at practice: 4 days
  • The Game: 87 days
