Ohio State commit Marcus Johnson named 2025 Ohio Mr. Basketball

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes will soon have another Ohio Mr. Basketball winner in the program. Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Garfield Heights point guard and 2026 Ohio State commit Marcus Johnson won the award on Thursday afternoon.
Johnson, the No. 33 overall player in the On3 Industry Rankings, averaged 29.7 points per game, along with 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 steals. He helped lead the Bulldogs to the OHSAA Division III State Semifinals where they lost to Louisville (Ohio) last weekend, 49-48.
The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Johnson was a finalist for the award last season as a sophomore but it went to Ohio State freshman guard Colin White. The Buckeyes have now landed the past three Ohio Mr. Basketball winners after sophomore forward Devin Royal won the award in 2023 then White in 2024 and Johnson in 2025.
