Buckeyes heavily represented on All-Big Ten teams
COLUMBUS — Ohio State isn’t playing in the Big Ten title game — again. For the fourth straight year, the Buckeyes will be watching from home. Instead of earning a rematch with Oregon, they failed to make the game after losing to Michigan.
But the league handed out its all-conference selections and awards on Tuesday, and the teams are littered with Buckeyes players.
First-team All-Big Ten players from Ohio State are:
WR Jeremiah Smith
LT/LG Donovan Jackson
C Seth McLaughlin
DE J.T. Tuimoloau (coaches) (second-team media)
LB Cody Simon (media)
SAF Lathan Ransom (coaches)
SAF Caleb Downs
Downs was also named the Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year, a distinctive honor given out by the league each year. Smith was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and league wide receiver of the year.
Second-team All-Big Ten selections from Ohio State were defensive end Jack Sawyer (coaches, third-team media) and linebacker Sonny Styles (coaches).

More on Jeremiah Smith being Big Ten Freshman of Year
On Tuesday, Smith was named a first-team All-Big Ten selection. But he won two major conference awards, too. Smith is officially the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and the Big Ten Wide Receiver of the Year, two massive honors for a true freshman.
Jeremiah Smith is the second straight Ohio State receiver to win the receiver of the year honors.
Smith is the leading receiver for a stacked Ohio State wide receiver room this season. The freshman former No. 1 overall prospect from the 2024 recruiting class has 57 catches for 934 receiving yards and 10 touchdown grabs on the season. Those numbers are all freshman receiving records for the Buckeyes, and he has topped them all in just the regular season.
