COLUMBUS — Ohio State is still in the middle of a national title push this season.

But the path to getting there next year is officially set.

Ohio State already knew the nonconference portion of next year’s schedule before Wednesday. But the full 2023 Big Ten slate was revealed Wednesday afternoon on Big Ten Network, making the nine-game gauntlet for next fall official.

As always, the Buckeyes schedule is headlined by a visit from Penn State and a season-ending trip to Michigan. But there are plenty of challenges in the other seven conference games Ohio State will play.

The Buckeyes will open conference play at Indiana in the season-opener. That game will happen Sept. 2 in Bloomington.

After three nonconference games, including a Sept. 23 rematch game at Notre Dame, Ohio State will have an off week before diving back into league action.

The Big Ten schedule continues Oct. 7 when Maryland comes to Columbus. That game will happen before a road trip to Purdue on Oct. 14, the first game at West Lafayette since the Boilermakers badly beat the Buckeyes back in 2018.

Then Penn State will travel to Ohio State on Oct. 21 before the Buckeyes go to Madison for a tough road game at Wisconsin on Halloween weekend before heading to Rutgers to open November.

The final three-game stretch could prove to be tricky for Ohio State. Home games against Michigan State and Minnesota await the Buckeyes before they head north for The Game, the first time they’ll meet Michigan in Ann Arbor since the 2021 upset loss.

The full schedule for next fall is now official. A path to the ultimate Ohio State goal every year — a Big Ten and national title — is set.
