COLUMBUS — Ohio State already had two pass-catchers on the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the nation’s top receiver.

But that award isn’t just reserved for star wide receivers. And that’s why the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, which runs the Biletnikoff Award, added Buckeyes tight end Cade Stover to the Biletnikoff Award watch list on Wednesday morning.

He joins Buckeyes superstar wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka, who were already on the watch list to open the season and have remained in the thick of the race to win the award for the best receiver in all of college football.

Egbuka has been out for each of the last two games, giving Stover more chances to be an impact player for Ohio State. Stover is on his way to setting records this season for the Buckeyes. He already has 27 catches for 429 receiving yards and three touchdown grabs this season, and he will continue being a big part of the offensive game plan designed by Ryan Day as the season wears on.

Now he’s finally earning recognition for how good he has been as he builds a case for the Mackey Award, which is given annually to the country’s top tight end.

He earned honors on the Biletnikoff Award watch list Wednesday to show how good he has been for the Buckeyes this year.

Ohio State tight end Cade Stover also earned second-team midseason All-America honors

Stover showed up for the first time on one of these All-America lists. He’s a second-teamer midway through the year according to the AP. He was joined by Harrison Jr. and star defensive back Denzel Burke as second-team midseason selections.

Ohio State seeing names on multiple midseason All-American teams

Last week, it was Buckeyes defensive tackle Tyleik Williams who earned a first-team nod from ESPN. Later last week, however, The Athletic released its All-America team at the midway point of the college football season. And that publication chose a different star.

The Athletic released its first- and second-team All-America list Wednesday, and junior defensive back Denzel Burke is a first-teamer halfway through the season. The Athletic cited his Big Ten-leading eight pass breakups and interception, as well as the Buckeyes defensive passing efficiency as a big reason why.

The Athletic also named its second-team All-America list midway through the season, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. made that list. So did junior defensive tackle Tyleik Williams. Both players continue to garner midseason attention for their play so far this season.
