Ohio State linebacker Cody Simon is proof there are still players out there who relish the spectacle of college football as much as they do in terms of where it can take them. He was elected one of four captains for the 2024 Buckeyes late last week, along with being named the bearer of the coveted 'Block O' jersey for the season, offshoots of his efforts through the years to be more than just another player but to be a leader. Not that he was seeking personal aggrandizement. Heck, when coach Ryan Day announced the captains, Simon said the moment was a little off-putting.
