Buckeyes second-year back Evan Pryor expected to miss season with knee injury
COLUMBUS — Ohio State running back Evan Pryor worked used a redshirt year as a freshman to build toward a breakout.
That role he planned to have in the running back room with have to wait another year.
Pryor suffered what is feared to be a season-ending knee injury on Monday at practice, first reported by Dotting The Eyes.
Ohio State was slated to have one of the best running back rooms in the country this fall, and it will still have two talented tailbacks ready to carry the load in TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams. But Evan Pryor figured to unlock a new wrinkle not seen in years to the Buckeyes offensive equation with his explosiveness and ability to be both a ball-carrier and pass-catcher out of the backfield.
Now that will have to wait a year to be unlocked, as Pryor will begin the rehab process and long road back onto the field.
“I enjoy coming to work with them every day,” Alford said earlier in camp. “And I’m asking just make sure they’re being pros, you know. They’re veteran guys. They’ve been around, two of them are at least veterans. But they’ve been in the program now, the top three guys have, at least. So I am asking them to be pros about the way they approach their business, the way they go to meetings, walkthroughs, practice. Be pros and just continue to get better.
“I love the room I have.”
That room will be down one of its four scholarship backs, now, leaving only Henderson, Williams and first-year back Dallan Hayden.

Evan Pryor will miss the season with an injury, and it’s now on Henderson and Williams to make up for the loss of one of the three main players in the Buckeyes running back room.
Lettermen Row also learned that wide receiver Kamryn Babb was sidelined from practice Tuesday — but he is still being evaluated.
