TreVeyon Henderson cleared for return, but Buckeyes still lose depth in tailback room
COLUMBUS — Just as Ohio State is getting one of its stars back in the loaded tailback room, it’s also losing a key piece.
Superstar sophomore back TreVeyon Henderson has officially been cleared for a return for the Buckeyes showdown on Saturday afternoon against Michigan State. But as the Buckeyes get Henderson back into their lineup, they’ll be without running back Miyan Williams, who had five touchdown runs a week ago in the win over Rutgers.
Ohio State was excited to get Henderson back into the lineup this week, but the Buckeyes weren’t going to rush their star back into things.
“I think at the end of the day, we leave all of that stuff up to the medical staff to make those decisions,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “Certainly we’re anxious to get Tre back.”
But it came with the caveat this week, as the Buckeyes will get Henderson back but will be without their leading rusher Williams.

In addition to Henderson, Ohio State will also have starting cornerback Cameron Brown back for the first time in three weeks and key contributor Cameron Martinez back after a one-week absence. Tanner McCalister, the starting safety who exited the game last week, is absent from the availability report and will be available for the Buckeyes.
Star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba won’t be back for the Buckeyes, meanwhile, as he continues to rehab his hamstring with the hope of coming back for the Iowa game following the off week next week.
The full availability report from the program is now confirmed, making note that Ohio State doesn’t detail injury or disciplinary matters.
