Retirement ‘way away’ for energetic Larry Johnson
The rumors have been going around about the potential retirement of Larry Johnson for years at Ohio State.
Don’t try to bring those up to the legendary defensive line coach for the Buckeyes, though. He isn’t slowing down anytime soon. And he has no plans of retiring from coaching football for Ohio State.
“My retirement plan is way away from here,” Johnson said Tuesday. “I enjoy coaching. And the day that I stop enjoy coaching and have a passion for what I do, then I’ll do that. But I don’t get up in the morning and say ‘well, this is it.’ I don’t do that. That’s not the way I function. I get up every morning, dying to get into the building and coach those guys. You know, when I can’t do that anymore, it’ll tell me.”
Johnson is the best in the country at what he does. He’ll keep coaching the Ohio State defensive line as long as he can. Don’t expect him to even consider retirement anytime soon.
Buckeyes tailback Evan Pryor expected to miss season with knee injury
Ohio State running back Evan Pryor worked used a redshirt year as a freshman to build toward a breakout. That role he planned to have in the running back room with have to wait another year.
Pryor suffered what is feared to be a season-ending knee injury on Monday at practice, Lettermen Row confirmed.
Ohio State was slated to have one of the best running back rooms in the country this fall, and it will still have two talented tailbacks ready to carry the load in TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams. But Evan Pryor figured to unlock a new wrinkle not seen in years to the Buckeyes offensive equation with his explosiveness and ability to be both a ball-carrier and pass-catcher out of the backfield.
Now that will have to wait a year to be unlocked, as Pryor will begin the rehab process and long road back onto the field.
