Taking closer look at state of Buckeyes linebackers room
The summer offseason is in full swing, and Lettermen Row is trying to survive it with our annual Position Week breakdowns. By the time all nine units and coaching staff at Ohio State have been covered, training camp and media days will nearly have arrived, and the return of football in the Horseshoe will be just around the corner. We’re continuing with our seventh positional week with a unit that returns its biggest stars: the Buckeyes linebackers.
COLUMBUS — Tommy Eichenberg and Steele Chambers helped spearhead the beginning of the defensive turnaround at Ohio State last year.
Their work is far from finished heading into their respective senior seasons. The Buckeyes are expected to be much better on that side of the ball than it was last fall, and that starts with the linebackers unit that returns both starters.
The group also, however, returns young potential difference-makers who can step up and become stars down the stretch, beginning in training camp next month. This could be a special linebackers room.

The expectations for this unit are extremely high. And defensive line coach Larry Johnson believes this unit can reach its potential when the Buckeyes get to training camp in August.
