COLUMBUS — Ohio State has its first kickoff time of the season set.

The Buckeyes now officially have a night game in November.

They’ll play host to Michigan State in primetime on Nov. 11, earning a 7:30 p.m. kickoff time on NBC, the new Big Ten network partner announced on Monday morning.

Ohio State has won every matchup against Michigan State since 2015, and the recent history of the series hasn’t been pretty. The Buckeyes badly beat the Spartans in East Lansing last season, walking out of Spartan Stadium with a 49-20 win.

Ryan Day has not lost to Mel Tucker since Tucker took over at Michigan State, winning both matchups by at least 29 points in each of them, including the 2021 meeting in the Horseshoe when both teams were ranked inside the top-10.

Of course, Ohio State will have a new starting quarterback and plenty of other pieces to replace heading into this season, but the identity of this version of the Buckeyes will certainly already be revealed by mid-November when they square off for a rare night game in November.

This edition of Ohio State vs. Michigan State will come after back-to-back long road trips for the Buckeyes. They’ll face Wisconsin on the road to end October and open November with a long road trip to Rutgers on Nov. 4.

Once they get home, the Buckeyes will have two straight games in the Horseshoe, beginning with Michigan State and ending with a date with Minnesota, before hitting the road and closing the regular season out against Michigan in The Game.

For now, only one of those matchups officially has a TV channel and time slot. The Buckeyes will host Michigan State in primetime on NBC.

Set your calendars accordingly.
