Buckeyes tailback Miyan Williams enters NFL Draft
COLUMBUS — Ohio State running back Miyan Williams spent the last four seasons as a good running back the Buckeyes counted on in big moments.
His next big moment will come at the next level. Williams entered his name into the NFL Draft class on Monday, he announced on X (formerly Twitter). Williams is the first Buckeyes player to declare for the draft since the season ended at Michigan last week.
Williams had this to say in a statement:
“It’s time for me to embark on my next chapter and making my dreams of playing in the NFL a reality. I have decided to enter my name in the 2024 NFL Draft. As I take these next steps in life, I will forever be a Buckeye for life. O-H!!”

Williams still had eligibility remaining to come back to school if he chose, but the chance to get to the NFL was too enticing for him to pass up.
He finishes his Ohio State career with 1,555 rushing yards, 20 rushing touchdowns and 143 receiving yards in four seasons of action. Williams was slated to have an expanded role for Ohio State in 2023 after leading the Buckeyes in rushing last season, but an injury slowed him down for nearly the entire season.
Buckeyes coach Ryan Day made it public that Williams would miss the remainder of the season in early November, ending Williams’ Buckeyes career.

When Day made that announcement, Williams and Ohio State were still figuring out his eligibility and whether Williams could potentially return next season. Day said at the time that Williams was figuring out his next steps, but the thought of being out for the year is still too fresh to get into the future.
That is now out the window, however. Miyan Williams is leaving Ohio State after four seasons to pursue a career in the NFL.
