COLUMBUS — Ohio State opened the second half of the season with an easy home win over Iowa.

Now the Buckeyes have a much tougher challenge ahead of them this week. They’ll hit the road to face No. 13 Penn State in State College in one of the biggest remaining games on the schedule and just second road game so far this season.

Ryan Day and Ohio State will hit the road expected to win by double-digit, opening as a 15-point favorite for the ranked showdown at Noon on FOX. The total is set at 61.5 points, according to the folks at Circa Sports.

The Buckeyes will play a road game at Penn State as a day game for the first time in a decade.

After a blowout win over Iowa on Saturday, Ohio State is playing good football at a perfect time. But so is Penn State, a team that beat Minnesota this weekend.

“When we can play like that, it’s great,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “So we have to learn what we did well and figure out what you need to improve on. We know we have a big challenge next week in State College.”

Ohio State will enter that challenge as a heavy favorite. The Buckeyes are once again expected to badly beat another Big Ten opponent.

  • Ohio State is 5-0 in its last five home games against Iowa
  • The Buckeyes are 4-2-1 against the spread this season
  • The Buckeyes are 6-5-1 against the spread in their last 11 games
  • Ohio State has not lost to Penn State since 2016
  • The total has gone over in six of the Buckeyes last seven Big Ten games
  • Penn State is 3-4 against the spread in its last seven home games
  • The Buckeyes are 21-9-2 against the spread in Big Ten play under Ryan Day
