COLUMBUS — Ohio State coach Ryan Day and select Buckeyes players met with the media after the game against Penn State on Saturday.

Some of what Day said after the Ohio State win…
+ Day said the crowd at Ohio Stadium was tremendous. “When the Shoe’s rocking like that, it’s a difference maker,” said Day, who noted the stadium was as loud as he’s heard in a long time when J.T. Tuimoloau made his fourth quarter sack.
+ Day said they missed both running back TreVeyon Henderson and wideout Emeka Egbuka, but “we had enough to win.”
+ Day said backup quarterback Devin Brown rolled his ankle down in the red zone.
+ Day was complimentary of wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who finished t”To me, he’s one of the most special players in the country.”
+ Day was confident in going for it on 4th-and-Goal from the 2-yard line because of what his defense was doing. Penn State would have had to drive 98 yards after that.
+ “If there wasn’t a hold there, that would have been a whole different game,” Day said, when asked about Kyle McCord’s performance. He said he’ll have to go back and watch the tape to see if McCord graded out as a “champion,” but there’s still room to grow.
+ Day — who gave a lot of credit to coordinator Jim Knowles — said that if his defense keeps playing at championship level, the Buckeyes will be in a good place.

+ Day was complimentary of the Penn State staff, including head coach James Franklin, offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
+ Day said LB Tommy Eichenberg mentioned in the locker room that the Buckeyes had to be “second-half warriors.” Day said he was impressed with the leadership of Eichenberg, tight end Cade Stover and wide receiver Xavier Johnson, who once again filled in for Emeka Egbuka.
+ Day wanted to regroup at halftime rather than attempting a final drive at the end of the first half. “I just didn’t want to take any chances,” Day said. He acknowledged that was conservative, but the scoop-and-score touchdown was still in the back of his mind.
+ Day said “it was close this week” if cornerback Denzel Burke could play this week. They hope to get him back next week.
+ That was the most confident and energetic group he’s been around since 2019, Day said. “I love the confidence that is building week in and week out.”
