COLUMBUS — For the first time this year, Ohio State will officially be impacted by the Big Ten’s new television contract with networks. And it’ll come Oct. 14 when the Buckeyes head to Purdue.

Ohio State will take on Purdue for a Noon showdown. And the game will be, for the first time in recent memory, not on a TV network. The game between the Buckeyes and Boilermakers will be broadcast exclusively by Peacock as part of the new television deal between the Big Ten and the networks.

Fans will need a Peacock subscription to watch the mid-October contest.

Ohio State has never been broadcast on a streaming-only platform. But with the new Big Ten TV deal, that could become more common, starting next Saturday on the road.

The Buckeyes are 2-5 in their last seven trips to West Lafayette, including a 49-20 blowout loss to Purdue the last time they made the trip there in 2018. But the Boilermakers are under first-year head coach Ryan Walters and appears to be experience the growing pains of a retooling this season. They’re 2-3 on the season and will face Iowa this week before welcoming Ohio State.

Ohio State, meanwhile, will host Maryland this weekend (Noon, FOX) before heading to West Lafayette next weekend for the Purdue showdown.

Latest AP Top 10

Ohio State had the week off for some much-needed rest following its last-second win at then-No. 9 Notre Dame. The Buckeyes didn’t play, and they didn’t budge in the AP Top 25, either.

Actually, there was no movement among the top-seven FBS teams.

Ohio State (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) remained No. 4 this week.
