Rapid Reaction: Buckeyes power past Notre Dame with defense, running game
COLUMBUS — Ohio State struggled early. It didn’t pass the ball well. It couldn’t generate offense for most of the first half.
But the Buckeyes muddied the game up in the second half thanks to a dominant defense and powerful running game. And they took the recipe Notre Dame thought it could use to pull an upset and turned it around on the Fighting Irish.
Final score: No. 2 Ohio State 21, No. 5 Notre Dame 10.
“We just beat the No. 5 team in the country by 11 points,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “And I couldn’t be any prouder of our team.”
Lettermen Row was inside the Horseshoe to break it all down. Spencer Holbrook and Tim May are breaking down how the Buckeyes were able to overcome a second-half deficit to take down Notre Dame and start the season with a statement win.
