Pair of Buckeyes star tailbacks on preseason watch list for Doak Walker Award
COLUMBUS — The 2024 Doak Walker Award candidates were announced ahead of the college football season on Tuesday. The Doak Walker Award is given to the country’s top tailback at the end of the season.
Ohio State has two of the best backs in the country, so of course, both have been named to the preseason watch list for the award.
Last year’s winner, Oklahoma State star Ollie Gordon, returns to defend his award and attempt to win it for a second time in a row.
Both senior back TreVeyon Henderson and third-year back, and former Ole Miss superstar, Quinshon Judkins are on the preseason watch list. They make up the best duo of backs in the sport. Oregon is the only other Big Ten school with two tailbacks on the preseason watch list for the Doak Walker Award.
This comes just one day after Judkins was named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award watch list.

More on the Walter Camp watch list and Ohio State
Three Ohio State players made the Walter Camp Player of the Year preseason watch list Monday: quarterback Will Howard, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and running back Quinshon Judkins.
Ohio State and Notre Dame are the only two schools with three players on the watch list. Seven other schools — Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Ole Miss and Penn State — each have two honorees.
In early November, the watch list will be pared down to 10 semifinalists. Then, on Nov. 26, three finalists will be announced. The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the 133 FBS head coaches and sports information directors. It’s important to note that a player doesn’t have to appear on the preseason watch list to win the award or to be selected to a Walter Camp All-America team.
The recipient will be crowned on Dec. 12 during ESPN’s College Football Awards Show.
