Quarterback battle heating up for Buckeyes
The candidates: junior Kyle McCord, redshirt freshman Devin Brown
The latest: Ohio State coach Ryan Day has insisted for months that this battle is simply too close to call entering training camp, and he has every right to do so. Day made sure to speak highly of both potential starters at Big Ten Media Days last week, although he did acknowledge that McCord’s experience is the only area at which he has an advantage over Brown. Of course Day isn’t going to tip his hand, but McCord continues to do the things needed to start at quarterback for the Buckeyes. He even stepped up as a leader this offseason, according to folks inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. McCord enters camp with the inside track to start at the most important position on the field.
