ATLANTA — Ohio State is as healthy as it has been for most of the season, and just at the right time: to take on Georgia in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Peach Bowl.
Yes, the Buckeyes are still waiting on a game-time decision. Tight end Gee Scott Jr. was seen earlier this week in the open practice session working with trainers, and his status is still up in the air.
As for starting running back Miyan Williams, who wasn’t at peak performance in the loss to Michigan due to an ankle injury and missed time this week in practice because of the flu? He is good to go.
And starting right guard Matthew Jones, who has started every game except the Michigan game because of an injury sustained against Maryland? He also has been cleared to return for the Buckeyes in the biggest challenge of the season: a matchup against Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter.
Ohio State used the five weeks between games to get healthier elsewhere. That more-than-a-month period gave defensive tackle Mike Hall time to rest up to have an impact, and it gave the Buckeyes time to simply be better-suited to face Georgia.

This is as healthy as Ohio State has been nearly all season. It’s coming in the perfect spot, just in time for the Peach Bowl.
Other notes from Ohio State availability report
It was already made quite clear that wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and tailback TreVeyon Henderson would be out for the Buckeyes. Smith-Njigba missed most of the year with a hamstring injury, while Henderson was shut down following the Maryland game to begin a rehab process.
The full availability report from the program is now confirmed, making note that Ohio State doesn’t detail injury or disciplinary matters.
