Buckeyes linebacker Steele Chambers declares for NFL Draft
COLUMBUS — Ohio State linebacker Steele Chambers was always expected to head to the NFL Draft after this season.
He’s now making that move official.
The Buckeyes two-year starter and versatile defensive playmaker has officially put his name in the NFL Draft after a five-year career with the Buckeyes, one in which he played running back during the first couple of seasons and became a starting linebacker during the back half.
Chambers finishes his Buckeyes career with 208 career tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, five passes broken up, four interceptions, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and one forced fumble.
He arrived at Ohio State from Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, Georgia. He was the No. 202 prospect in the 2019 recruiting class, the No. 15 running back and No. 23 player in Georgia.
But after two seasons at running back, Chambers saw a shift for his career that turned out well for he and the Buckeyes defense. Chambers moved to the defensive side of the ball and became a key piece of a defense that was rebuilt by Jim Knowles and the new defensive staff.
Chambers was a starting linebacker alongside Tommy Eichenberg for each of the last two seasons.
Despite having one more year of eligibility remaining, Chambers is now heading to the NFL Draft after a lengthy collegiate football career. His time at Ohio State has come to an end.

Steele Chambers statement, via his Instagram account
Steele Chambers had this to say:
It has been a privilege and honor to be a part of a Brotherhood and community that I now call my home and family. I want to thank my family, mom and dad, and sisters for their unwavering support through this journey. I could not have done this without you.
I want to thank Coach Day, Coach Knowles, Coach Laurinaitis, the entire coaching staff, and athletic department for believing in me and providing me with the tools to be successful.
Most importantly I want to thank my teammates, the warriors I went to battle with day in and day out. Without this Brotherhood, I would not be here today. You are the reason I continue.
After many conversations with my family, have decided to declare for the NFL Draft.
