Preseason Report: Buckeyes wrap up Day One of training camp

COLUMBUS — Ohio State cranked up the music and began to stretch on the fields outside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Thursday morning, just as it really started to get hot.
And just like that, the 2023 Ohio State football season is underway.
The Buckeyes allowed the media to watch the opening practice session of training camp on Thursday to kick off the marathon month of August. And we have plenty of takeaways after watching offense, defense and special teams in the heat for a couple of hours on Thursday morning.
Of course, after practice, the media chatted with defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jim Knowles, as well as the linebackers in the room.

ICYMI: Preseason Report from Wednesday
Ohio State coach Ryan Day is no stranger to sorting through a quarterback battle.
He went through this in 2018, when Dwayne Haskins was crowned the starting quarterback for Day, who was the Buckeyes offensive coordinator at the time. And it happened again in 2019, when Justin Fields solidified his role as the starter in training camp. The Buckeyes replaced Fields with C.J. Stroud, who earned the starting role a few weeks into training camp in 2021, as well.
So this is not new to Ryan Day. But it’s still an unknown between Devin Brown and Kyle McCord as the Buckeyes open camp on Thursday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
