Ryan Day provides injury updates on trio of key Buckeyes starters
COLUMBUS — Ohio State won a top-10 game last weekend without three of its biggest stars.
Those three could all be in line to return to action when the Buckeyes head to Wisconsin this upcoming weekend.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day said Tuesday during his weekly press conference that he expects star cornerback Denzel Burke, starting running back TreVeyon Henderson and star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka to ‘have a good week of practice’ this week.
That signals that each of them could play this weekend when the Buckeyes take on Big Ten West leader Wisconsin in a primetime road game.
More on each injured Buckeyes starter
RB TreVeyon Henderson
Henderson hasn’t played since the win over Notre Dame on Sept. 23. Henderson has warmed up pregame each of the last three games but hasn’t dressed for any of them. He does have 44 carries for 295 rushing yards and five touchdowns this season after struggling with injuries last year.
The star running back has been a game-time decision in each of those three games — and he could be back this weekend.

WR Emeka Egbuka
Egbuka, meanwhile, was also listed as questionable for the Buckeyes in their massive showdown against the Nittany Lions. He was listed as a game-time decision for Ohio State as it faced one of the top defenses in the country. Egbuka has 22 catches for 303 yards and three receiving touchdowns this season after going over the 1,000-yard mark for the Buckeyes prolific offense last year.
Ohio State didn’t disclose what Egbuka’s injury is, the issue suffered during the second half of the win over Maryland on Oct. 7. But fellow star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. did say Wednesday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center during his media availability that both he and Egbuka were dealing with ankle problems.
DB Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke was named a midseason All-American last week, but he left in the second half of the Buckeyes win at Purdue two weeks ago, first going to the medical tent before heading to the locker room. He did not return to that game and did not play for the Buckeyes against Penn State.
Burke could be in line to return this week if he goes through the week of practice.
