Buckeyes land commitment from former Ohio tight end Will Kacmarek
COLUMBUS — Ohio State has its first transfer portal addition of the offseason: the Buckeyes have added former Ohio tight end Will Kacmarek to the roster.
The redshirt sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri will have two years of eligibility remaining at Ohio State.
Kacmarek has 42 catches for 507 receiving yards and two touchdowns in his college career, and he’ll add depth to a tight end room that will lose Cade Stover this offseason after his storied career.
Where Kacmarek thrived, though, was on the line of scrimmage as a blocker because of his work ethic and low ego, according to a Lettermen Row source. He’s expected to come in and help Ohio State due to his big 6-foot-6, 240-pound frame and add depth to the room.
Ohio State has increasingly used its tight ends in the last few years, especially with Stover. Next season, senior Gee Scott Jr. and freshman Jelani Thurman have a chance to lead the room, and third-year tight end Bennett Christian could provide depth as a veteran coming off of a year-long suspension.

But Kacmarek can come in for winter and spring workouts to begin carving out a role. He’s moving up from the MAC and coming to Ohio State.
He made it official on New Year’s Eve, and the Buckeyes have their first addition from the transfer portal in this cycle.
