C.J. Stroud wins another B1G weekly honor after torching Indiana
C.J. Stroud and Ohio State may have finally found something that can slow their offense down.
A week after missing out on Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors — only due to being off — Stroud torched an overmatched Indiana secondary to capture the weekly award yet again.
It’s the fifth time Stroud has won the weekly award this season. Every week the Buckeyes have played, they’ve won the award.
The off week was the only factor slowing down the Buckeyes potent offense. His latest performance even left Ohio State coach Ryan Day impressed.
“It starts with the protection, and it starts with the trusting the guys to catch it,” Day said Saturday night. “But he does see the field, and that’s one of his strengths. He’s got a lot of confidence right now, and that’s good thing. But we can’t ride the roller coaster, either.
“We’ve got to stay on it, but he made some nice throws tonight.”
Stroud’s Heisman odds remain steady as he continues to thrash opponents. He has gone from odds at +5000 to +500 in the last few weeks. Stroud remains the No. 3 favorite in the race behind Alabama quarterback Bryce Young (+185) and Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral (+210) per Vegas Insider.

This is the seventh time that an Ohio State freshman has earned the conference’s Freshman of the Week honor. TreVeyon Henderson won the award after his record-setting performance against Tulsa, and Kyle McCord captured it following his start against Akron.
Stroud has won it five times now, and he should leave some room on his mantle for more of them down the road.
The only thing that has slowed down the Buckeyes Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors this season has been an off week.
If Stroud and Henderson continue to play at their current rate, the awards will continue to come each week.
