Dwayne Haskins signs NFL contract

Former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins signed his first pro contract on Thursday, agreeing to terms with the Washington Redskins.

Though terms were not disclosed, the rookie wage scale has essentially standardized rookie pay and limited any negotiating power new players might have. The current totals for the No. 15 overall pick are a four-year contract (with a fifth-year option) worth $14,416,611, including a signing bonus of $8,504,808.

Ohio State out for Justin Rogers?

While Ohio State makes the cut for Deontae Craig, it is now officially out of the mix for Oak Park (Mich.) 4-star lineman Justin Rogers. The top-ranked player in Michigan’s 2020 class narrowed his top schools to five and announced a decision date of May 20.

The relationship and recruitment changed significantly over the past year as Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and others ramped up their involvement. The Buckeyes may have also been hurt in that recruitment as a result of the Dwan Mathis decommitment, which could have soured Rogers and his teammates at Oak Park about Ohio State.

Whatever the reasons, the Buckeye aren’t in the mix for Rogers at this point. But based on his recruitment so far, there will certainly be more twists and turns from here. If the 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman continues to kick the tires on playing defensive tackle at the next level instead of the offensive line, the heat could get turned up again from Ohio State and Larry Johnson.

Jaden McKenzie’s inspiring story

Chased out of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, Ohio State signee Jaden McKenzie and his family ultimately settled in North Carolina. Lettermen Row contributor John Brice wrote a great story about McKenzie’s path to Ohio State, so be sure to check it out if you haven’t read it yet.

Beanie and the Boom

This week on the Beanie and The Boom Podcast, the guys welcome two-time Super Bowl champion Ahmad Bradshaw. Bradshaw talks about what it was like to play with Eli Manning, Michael Strahan and other stars for the New York Giants. Bradshaw also goes in-depth on his path to the NFL, which wasn’t always easy.
