Scarlet Sunrise: How will Ohio State use Justin Fields against Florida Atlantic?
Good morning, Ohio State fans, and welcome to the Scarlet Sunrise! Football will always be our focus, but every day we’ll cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.
How will Ohio State use Justin Fields?
Ohio State has a good but inexperienced quarterback. Ohio State also has no established Plan B at quarterback. What’s a team to do? For Ryan Day and the Buckeyes, it sounds like the plan is to play without fear but also with an eye on the future when the situation becomes appropriate.
“He’s got to go play the game,” Day said. “We can’t be walking on eggshells. We can’t go into a game worrying about people getting hurt. Our guys have to do a good job protection wise. I think the schemes we imply each week are taking that into consideration, though. We’re not going to put somebody out there and put them in harm’s way when we don’t need to. But at the same time we’ve got to go win games. That means whatever it takes. So, as the game changes and whatever happens within the game, we try to make the best decision moving forward because it’s a long season.”
New name of interest at RB for Ohio State
There are going to be a lot of new names that pop up when it comes to the running back position and Ohio State.
One those new options is Miami (Fla.) Columbus High School 3-star tailback Harry Parrish. Parrish is committed to Pittsburgh, but he told Lettermen Row that Tony Alford and the Buckeyes have expressed an interest in getting to know a bit more about him.
Parrish is coming off a spectacular season-opening game that saw him record 324 yards on just 17 carries. To this point, there’s no scholarship offer from Ohio State, but the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Parrish looks like a player who may have slipped through the cracks and avoided the big-time national attention that would usually accompany his skill set and his geographic location.

Lettermen Row’s game day poster
As we get rolling in Year Two at Lettermen Row covering Ohio State, we are pleased to announce the addition of Sam Silverman to our stable of talent. Silverman gave our brand an update this week, which you might have noticed. The facelift gives a whole new look and feel to our content — including a new logo, new colors and a visual language to tie it all together. Using his impressive multimedia skills, he will continue to work with us part-time as Lettermen Row’s Creative Director.
As creative director, Silverman is going to design a game poster for each week’s upcoming Ohio State opponent. Be sure to check out this week’s poster, which reflects the onset of the Ryan Day Era for the Buckeyes.
