Parker Lewis cleared by NCAA, eligible for Buckeyes

Four weeks into the season, Ohio State finally has an answer on one of its transfer additions from the offseason.

The Buckeyes learned that Parker Lewis, a USC transfer kicker with three years of eligibility remaining, has been cleared to play for Ohio State by the NCAA, according to multiple reports. It was first reported by the Columbus Dispatch.

Lewis is unlikely to unseat Noah Ruggles as the primary field-goal kicker, though he could challenge freshman Jayden Fielding for kickoff duties moving forward.

Lewis was nearly perfect on extra points at USC, going 46 of 47. He also was 26 of 35 on field goals at USC before transferring to Ohio State.

Now he is cleared to play for the Buckeyes, four weeks into the season.

Full coverage as Buckeyes prepare for Rutgers

The Buckeyes will battle the Scarlet Knights inside the Horseshoe on Saturday afternoon for a Homecoming game that will mark the opening of the October slate. In preparation for the Buckeyes game against Rutgers, they held a media session with head coach Ryan Day, cornerbacks coach Tim Walton and tight end/fullback Mitch Rossi inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Spencer Holbrook and Tim May were back inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Tuesday, breaking down how the Buckeyes are turning their focus to Rutgers in the latest Practice Report presented by Byers Auto. Every Tuesday following the media session with the Buckeyes, Tim and Spencer will chat about what they saw Saturday night and look ahead to what to expect from Ohio State the next Saturday.

After hearing from Ryan Day and other Buckeyes, the Lettermen Row crew is back for a full report on what it learned.

Ohio State destroyed Wisconsin to earn a big conference win before October. The Buckeyes now turn their full focus to Rutgers.

But not before the Tim May Podcast returns to recap everything that happened in the Horseshoe over the weekend! Tim is back with a special guest and a breakdown of the Big Ten showdown inside the Horseshoe last Saturday.

Tim welcomes former Ohio State national-title winning defender Matt Wilhelm to the show to break down how good the Buckeyes defense is becoming. They also check back in on the notion that this current Buckeyes team can win it all this year. They also take a deep dive into the Buckeyes place in the current polls, where they’re ranked and where they should be ranked after a quick, dominant 4-0 start.
