COLUMBUS — Ohio State without question protected its home turf.

The Buckeyes capped off an impressive five-game home stand behind a 49-10 win over Rutgers on Saturday.

No. 3 Ohio State (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) was dominant as ever against the Scarlet Knights and picked up its first Big Ten East Division win of the season.

Running back Miyan Williams carried the Ohio State offense against Rutgers. The third-year running back scored five touchdowns on the ground and totaled 189 rushing yards on 21 carries. Williams’ five touchdown runs are tied for first in program history.

While four of his touchdown runs were from two yards or less, Williams burst for a 70-yard score on the Buckeyes second possession in the second half.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud was once again reliable for the Buckeyes with his performance. The second-year starter out of Rancho Cucamonga, California, went 13-22, 154 yards and tossed two touchdowns.

Wide receivers Emeka Egbuka, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Julian Fleming combined for 139 yards with Egbuka leading the bunch (70). Fleming and Harrison Jr. each had a touchdown reception.

Ohio State defensively stood strong and only allowed 187 yards of total offense. Linebacker Steele Chambers turned in an incredible performance for the Buckeyes with 11 tackles, two tackles for loss and an interception. Linebacker Tommy Eichenberg continues to put together an All-American resume as the leader of the Silver Bullets and he followed up last week’s 14 tackle performance with nine

For the first time this season, Ohio State will enter a week of preparation knowing it has to leave Columbus. It travels to East Lansing, Michigan, where it’ll play Michigan State in its first road game of the season.

The Buckeyes have won the last eight consecutive games at Michigan State. Their last loss to the Spartans on the road was a 23-7 final in 1999.

Ohio State hasn’t lost its first road game since 2011 when it traveled to Coral Cables, Florida, and lost to Miami 24-6.

But before Lettermen Row moves focus to the Michigan State week, check out the photos from the Buckeyes win over Rutgers.
