2025 in-state quarterback Tavien St. Clair commits to Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ohio State found its signal-caller for the 2025 cycle.
Four-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair has committed to the Buckeyes.
The No. 18 quarterback and No. 285 overall prospect chose Ohio State over Michigan, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee and others.
St. Clair has been on the Buckeyes’ radar for over a year now. He camped at Ohio State going into his freshman year of high school and then last summer as well. The camp last summer put him as one to watch for Ryan Day and Corey Dennis.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect continued to grow both physically and mentally. Ohio State kept inviting him back to campus, and eventually during the contact period in May, Dennis extended the offer to St. Clair.
Not even a month later, he committed and it was an easy decision for the in-state talent.
“The tradition, the quarterback development,” he said, “Just what’s gonna put me in the best position to go to the NFL.”
The recent Ohio State pledge visited campus two days in a row this week. He made an unannounced camp day visit Tuesday and then his high school competed in the annual 7-on-7 tournament. St. Clair was followed by Dennis throughout the day, and then toward the end Day was in his hip pocket.
St. Clair and Ohio State have intensified their relationship over the last 10 months. He visited for the Buckeyes’ season opener against Notre Dame last fall and spoke very highly of that process.
Particularly about relationships.
“It started out pretty slow by just introducing ourselves but now I feel like I can talk to them like my high school coach,” St. Clair told Lettermen Row. “We are just comfortable around each other now so I think that’s probably the biggest growth.”

Watching the Buckeyes win that game in a slugfest showed St. Clair how, as he said, elite the offensive staff is — another reason why he pledged to the scarlet and gray.
Tavien St. Clair is the second pledge to the Buckeyes’ 2025 class. He joins four-star Atlanta (Ga) Douglass cornerback Jontae Gilbert in the class.
St. Clair is the first offensive prospect and first in-state prospect in the class. Ohio State has offered eight other in-state prospects in the 2025 cycle.
This is a good start for the class and the Buckeyes’ approach to building inward out can now take over in 2025 with Tavien St. Clair in the class.
