Ohio State commits Bryce West, Damarion Witten earns First-Team All-State honors
COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely and consistently recruits some of the best players in the country. But it doesn’t just recruit the best players in the country, Ohio State finds and lands the best players in the Buckeye State.
In the Buckeyes’ 2024 class, there are a number of talented in-state commits and on Tuesday two of them got their due credit. Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville cornerback Bryce West and tight end Damarion Witten were named First-Team All-State Division IV by the Ohio High School Athletics Association.
West was on first-team defense and Witten was on first-team offense.
The Glenville duo committed to Ohio State on the same day — June 24 during their official visit to Columbus.
“For me as an Ohio kid I feel that Ohio State was going to have me well taken care of and the developmental piece here doesn’t get any better,” West told On3. “I have known of this decision for a while. I’ve been up there so many times so I was always like this is the place I need to be at because it fits me best.”
“It means a lot,” Witten told On3 about committing to Ohio State. “Just me staying home and playing for all the fans in Columbus it’s a blessing. I’ve been dreaming about this since I was a baby, and you know what the actual saying is “THE BEST IN OHIO STAYS IN OHIO.”
