Jermaine Mathews schedules Buckeyes official visit

Ohio State wasted no time offering Winton Woods (Ohio) cornerback Jermaine Mathews after seeing him at a one-day camp last week.

Mathews wasted no time scheduling his official visit after receiving that offer. He’ll be on campus next weekend for an official visit, one of the biggest visit weekends of the year for Ohio State.

Mathews was certainly impressive at the camp earlier this month, locking down receivers in the one-on-one drills and becoming a fast-rising target on the Buckeyes recruiting board.

Now after just a week with an offer, Mathews has set an official visit with Ohio State. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Buckeyes a 93.8-percent chance to land his pledge.

Baylor QB commit Austin Novosad locks in Ohio State official visit

Dripping Springs (Texas) quarterback Austin Novosad has been committed to Baylor since December. But in the midst of a late push from Ohio State, the four-star passer has set up an official visit with the Buckeyes, On3’s Sam Spiegelman has confirmed.

Novosad is the No. 254 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus. He ranks as the nation’s No. 13 quarterback and the No. 46 player in the state of Texas. He’ll visit the Buckeyes this weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder remains committed to the Bears for now, but the Buckeyes are sure to turn up the heat even more as they try to land their 2023 quarterback.

ICYMI: Tim May Podcast

This week, Tim dives into one of the most pressing issue facing college football right now: name, image and likeness.

To break it all down, Tim welcomes on sports attorney Luke Fedlam to analyze just how NIL has impacted college football, Ohio State and the future of the sport. Fedlam works with athletes and studies NIL, and he has previously been on the Tim May Podcast to talk about the hot-button topic since it was deemed legal by the Ohio legislature last summer.

How did Ohio State football make its way into the wild world of name, image and likeness? How are the Buckeyes maintaining their edge in that space? What’s next in the future of college football, considering all the changes coming to the sport? And just how good can Ohio State with the full force of NIL in the athletic department? Luke and Tim talk about that and plenty more on the latest episode of the show.

You will not want to miss that and plenty more news and analysis and in another edition of the Tim May Podcast. It dives into one of the biggest issues in college sports — and for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes as they try to keep up with it all.
