COLUMBUS — Ohio State has needed offensive tackles in the 2023 class. That help is on the way: Miles Walker has committed to the Buckeyes.

The three-star Brunswick School (Greenwich, Connecticut) chose the Buckeyes on Friday, picking them over Penn State, Texas A&M, Michigan, Notre Dame and others. He is the first true offensive tackle in the recruiting class, and he gives Justin Frye a major win in his first cycle as Ohio State offensive line coach.

Walker is the fourth offensive lineman in the class, joining four-star interior linemen Josh Padilla and Austin Siereveld, as well as top-100 four-star Luke Montgomery, who Ohio State is starting to believe will be a tackle for the Buckeyes.

Walker was a surprise visitor during the weekend of June 10, the first official visit weekend of the summer for the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes coaching staff liked what they saw, so they invited him for a visit. Lettermen Row covered that visit as it happened:

Simply put, Ohio State needs offensive tackles. That’s why the Buckeyes are opening the Woody Hayes Athletic Center to three-star offensive tackle Miles Walker. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Brunswick School (Greenwich, Connecticut) product visited Texas A&M last weekend, and now it’s Justin Frye’s turn to make a pitch to Walker. Ohio State still has other top tackle prospects still left on the board later this month. But the first step in finding a tackle will take place this weekend. Miles Walker will be on campus.

Lettermen Row, June 10

Walker saw everything he needed to on that visit, and he is shutting his recruitment down, deciding to join the Buckeyes line class that includes the three in-state prospects: Montgomery, Padilla and Siereveld. Don’t expect Ohio State to stand pat with just the four offensive linemen. The Buckeyes want another tackle in the class.

His pledge gives the Buckeyes 17 in their 2023 recruiting class, filling up the positional needs quickly. Ohio State has landed seven commitments since the beginning of June to rise near the top of the team recruiting rankings, including the On3 Consensus No. 2 class in America. The Buckeyes are just a few points behind Notre Dame in the battle for the top class.

That top-two class now includes a true tackle prospect. At 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds, Miles Walker is the latest Buckeyes commit. And he gives Justin Frye a major win on the trail.
