The Slate: Ohio State commits weekend schedule Sept. 28-30

COLUMBUS — For some Ohio State commits, they’re already at the halfway point of their 2023 seasons. That’s a little hard to grapple with when the Buckeyes are already a fourth of the way through the schedule.

Ohio State passed its major test against Notre Dame on the road behind a last-second touchdown run by Chip Trayanum to win 17-14.

Plenty of future Buckeyes have big tests this weekend as well and Lettermen Row gets right into the weekend slate for all 22 of the 2024 commits and commits beyond.

Quarterback

Four-star Fairburn (Ga) Langston Hughes quarterback Air Noland looks to get back in the win column on Friday. He and the Panthers host Douglasville (Ga) Alexander this week.

2025 four-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair also looks to get back into the win column on Friday. He travels to New Carlisle (Ohio) Tecumseh.

Running Back

Four-star San Antonio (Texas) Veterans Memorial running back James Peoples travels to Lockhart (Texas) on Friday. He is slated to make his season debut this week.

Four-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla) St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Lyle hosts Miramar (Fla) on Friday. The future Ohio State tailback has five rushing touchdowns in five games.

Three-star Pickerington (Ohio) North running back Sam Williams-Dixon hosts Galloway (Ohio) Westland on Friday.

Wide Receiver

Five-star Hollywood (Fla) Chaminade-Madonna wide receiver Jeremiah Smith looks to continue his impressive senior season on Friday. Smith and the Lions travel to Coconut Creek (Fla).

Five-star New Haven (Ind) wide receiver Mylan Graham travels to Decatur (Ind) Bellmont.

Four-star St. Louis (Mo) Christian Brothers wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan travels to the Volunteer State for one of the best games in the country. McClellan and the Cadets play Nashville (Tenn) Lipscomb Academy.

2026 four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Withrow wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. hosts Cincinnati (Ohio) Woodward on Saturday.

Tight End

Four-star Chattanooga (Tenn) Baylor School tight end Max LeBlanc travels to crosstown rival for a major conference game. LeBlanc and the Red Raiders play at Chattanooga (Tenn) McCallie.

Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville tight end Damarion Witten hosts Cleveland (Ohio) Rhodes

Offensive Line

Four-star New Palestine (Ind) offensive tackle Ian Moore hosts Shelbyville (Ind) for a conference game. Moore and the Dragons have won four in a row.

Four-star Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward offensive linemen Deontae and Devontae Armstrong host Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius on Saturday.

Three-star Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic IOL Marc Nave travels to crosstown rival Toledo (Ohio) St. John’s Jesuit on Friday.

Defensive Line

Five-star Chicago (Ill) St. Ignatius defensive tackle Justin Scott travels to Niles (Ill) Notre Dame on Friday.

Five-star Buford (Ga) defensive lineman Eddrick Houston travels to Suwanee (Ga) Collins Hill on Friday.

Three-star Stafford (Va) Mountain View defensive lineman Eric Mensah travels to Fredericksburg (Va) Riverbend on Friday.

Linebacker

Four-star Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut linebacker Garrett Stover travels to Worthington (Ohio) Kilbourne on Friday.

Four-star Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy linebacker Payton Pierce is on a bye week this week.

Cornerback

Four-star Springfield (Ohio) cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. travels to Springboro (Ohio). The future Ohio State defensive back is scheduled to return to campus next month for the Penn State game.

Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville cornerback Bryce West hosts Cleveland (Ohio) Rhodes on Friday.

Four-star Chandler (Ariz) Basha cornerback Miles Lockhart hosted Phoenix (Ariz) Brophy College Prep on Thursday.

Safety

Four-star West Orange (N.J.) Seton Hall Prep safety Jaylen McClain hosts Red Bank (N.J.) Catholic on Saturday.
