COLUMBUS — Ohio State hosted its first big visit weekend of the 2024 season on Saturday. The Buckeyes hosted well over two dozen recruits and their families, and they also hosted Iowa for their Big Ten home opener.

Ohio State (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) beat Iowa 35-7 behind a dominant second-half effort led by turnovers and touchdowns.

A large majority of the Buckeyes’ top-ranked 2025 recruiting class was in Ohio Stadium on Saturday. Five-star Plus+ Houston (Texas) North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez, five-star McKinney (Texas) linebacker Riley Pettijohn and four-star Port St. Lucie (Fla) Vero Beach linebacker Tarvos Alford all were in attendance Saturday.

More of the defensive class showed up too. Four-star Matthews (N.C.) Weddington defensive lineman Trajen Odom, four-star Troy (Ala) Enterprise EDGE Zion Grady and four-star Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic safety DeShawn Stewart enjoyed a game in the Horseshoe.

Other commits in Ohio Stadium included: quarterback Tavien St. Clair, offensive tackle Carter Lowe, interior offensive lineman Jake Cook, wide receivers Quincy Porter, De’zie Jones and Bodpegn Miller, tight end Nate Roberts, linebacker Eli Lee and safety Cody Haddad.

Plenty of big targets were also in Columbus, however.

Three, in-state On300 2026 offensive linemen showed up — Max Riley, Adam Guthrie and Will Conroy. Guthrie joined the other two by earning his Buckeyes offer. The Buckeyes look to be a major player in his recruitment now that they have offered.

Along with those 2026 offensive linemen, tight end Evan Jacobson and wide receiver Jaeden Ricketts were in the Horseshoe.

Four-star Carrollton (Ga) cornerback and Alabama commit Dorian Barney visited Columbus over the weekend as well. A timely visit given the Crimson Tide’s road loss to Vanderbilt. Ohio State was a major player in his recruitment the first time around. Perhaps there is an avenue to open that door again.

And of the major visitors, 2027 Huntington Beach (Calif) quarterback Brady Edmunds made his debut game-day visit.
