The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2024 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letters of Intent are in: Deontae and Devontae Armstrong have signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — Very rarely does the package deal ever happen in recruiting, but it’s different when it’s twins.

In-state offensive linemen Deontae and Devontae Armstrong have signed their letters of intent and their next stop will be Columbus to begin their careers at Ohio State.

What’s the impact of landing not one, but two of the best in-state offensive linemen? Lettermen Row breaks it down.

Who are Deontae and Devontae Armstrong?

Deontae and Devontae Armstrong are three-star offensive linemen from Lakewood, Ohio. They played their preps career at St. Edward High School. In an impressive feat, the twins are three-time Division I state champions.

They played on an offensive line that also featured Michigan commit Ben Roebuck, who signed with the Wolverines on Wednesday.

The Armstrongs chose Ohio State over Michigan, Penn State, Georgia and more.

Deontae Armstrong is the No. 443 overall prospect, No. 27 offensive tackle and No. 16 Ohio prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. He is just the No. 32 offensive tackle and No. 15 Ohio prospect per On3.

Devontae Armstrong is the No. 499 overall prospect, No. 41 IOL and No. 20 Ohio prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. He is the No. 68 IOL and No. 32 Ohio prospect according to On3.

How did the Armstrongs end up at Ohio State?

There is always at least one in-state prospect who not only wants the Ohio State offer, but does everything he can to earn it. The Buckeyes got two of those with the Armstrongs.

They transformed their bodies from looking like linebackers to offensive linemen during their offseason. Both grew vertically as well which helps.

In January this year, they each earned their offer from the Buckeyes and that is a moment they won’t ever forget.

“This one certainly means a little more than some, being from the state of Ohio, and growing up an Ohio State fan just makes this offer feel a lot better,” Deontae Armstrong told Lettermen Row. “It just felt different to get offered by a school that you watched on TV since you were a little kid.”

And when they committed, it was even more jubilation.

“We’ve grown up watching Ohio State since the day we were born, always seeing them on TV,” Devontae Armstrong told On3. “It really was just a dream come true to actually be getting recruited by Ohio State and when Coach Frye came to our school in January and offered my brother and I, we just looked at each other and smiled.”
