2025 five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez commits to Ohio State
COLUMBUS — One of Ohio State’s biggest 2025 targets is officially off the board.
Devin Sanchez has committed to the Buckeyes.
The five-star Houston (Texas) North Shore cornerback chose Ohio State over Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU and others. Sanchez is the No. 2 cornerback and No. 8 overall prospect according to On3. He is the No. 2 cornerback and No. 6 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. Both metrics have Sanchez as the No. 2 Texas prospect.
Sanchez and Ohio State have long been tied together throughout 2023 after his debut visit in June. The relationship he and cornerback coach Tim Walton have since built up is second to none. And it was a large driving force behind the commitment.
“It was cool, you know we have a different relationship than any other coach that’s recruiting me,” Sanchez told Lettermen Row. “I always enjoy the time we have going over ball.”
Relationship aside, Sanchez has studied Walton’s resume. He knows what makes the cornerback coach tick and what makes him different compared to others.
“Just look at his background,” Sanchez said. “Twelve years of league experience as a DC and DB coach and now at one of the highest level schools.

“As a person, he’s a great person to be around he has a lot of energy and makes you feel welcomed.”
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback was on campus for the Ohio State-Penn State game where he was one of the highest-priority visitors regardless of cycle. He had a front-row seat to see true freshman Jermaine Mathews Jr. do his thing in place of an injured Denzel Burke. More evidence that should he choose Ohio State, he can make an impact as a freshman.
During that visit, Sanchez spent time with all three of the Buckeyes’ 2024 cornerback signees. Aaron Scott Jr., Bryce West and Miles Lockhart all got in Sanchez’s ear about why Ohio State is the place to be, and clearly, the message has stuck over these months.
Devin Sanchez commits to a 2025 class that continues to grow rapidly. The Buckeyes’ No. 5 class quadrupled in size in October. The five-man class consists of four-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair, four-star Cocoa (Fla) wide receiver Jayvan Boggs, four-star Baltimore (Md) St. Frances Academy cornerback Blake Woodby and three-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban linebacker Eli Lee.
And now it’s headlined by one of the country’s most talented 2025 prospects.
