Priority Ohio State cornerback target Dorian Brew includes Buckeyes in final five, decision date set
COLUMBUS — Ohio State is on quite a heater on the 2025 recruiting trail to kick off a new year.
Six days into the new year, the Buckeyes landed five-star Houston (Texas) North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez. Then on the tenth, four-star Philadelphia (Pa) Imhotep Institute EDGE Zahir Mathis committed to the Buckeyes.
Is another commitment on the way soon? Potentially. Four-star Conroe (Texas) cornerback Dorian Brew cut his list from 10 to five on Wednesday and Ohio State made the second cut. Michigan, Penn State, Oregon and Texas round out the list.
Brew is the No. 3 cornerback and the No. 21 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings. On3 has Brew as the No. 6 cornerback and the No. 52 overall prospect.
He will pick one of those five schools on Jan. 24.
Ohio State is shaping up to be the team to beat for Brew as well. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine heavily favors the Buckeyes with a commanding 98.3 percent. That’s largely in part because of three predictions on Ohio State to land the 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive back.
In June, I launched a prediction for the Buckeyes to land Brew and a couple of days ago, I upped the percentage from 65 to 75 percent. Here is an excerpt from the June prediction just to refresh.

But the Buckeyes are recruiting him as a defensive back, starting off at cornerback. That’s a welcomed change for the 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect.
Either way, he has taken to the position.
“I’m getting recruited as an athlete, but I feel like my potential is highest at DB,” Brew said. “It’s not a lot of DBs my size, my speed, so I feel like I can make my money at DB.”
He is building up a relationship with cornerbacks coach Tim Walton and he not only has faith in that relationship but also in Walton’s track record.
“Coach [Tim] Walton knows what he’s doing, he’s a great coach,” Brew said. “He’s hard on technique and emphasized that a lot and that’s what I like about him.”
That relationship has changed since June. It’s gotten strong. Ohio State has a revamped secondary thanks to Walton and the Buckeyes continue to trend for other top defensive prospects around the country.
Brew of course has the Ohio State connection. His mother ran track for the Buckeyes and before he moved to Texas, he lived in the Dayton area.
The Buckeyes will find out in less than two weeks if Brew is going to head back to Ohio. And all signs are pointed toward yes.
