COLUMBUS — It was a process over two years in the making for Ohio State, but it finally worked out.

Three-star Westerville (Ohio) North interior offensive lineman Jake Cook has committed to the Buckeyes. The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Central Ohioan is the No. 643 overall prospect and the No. 54 interior offensive lineman according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Cook was initially committed to Louisville, a pledge he made back in February, but he backed off that decision on June 18.

“First, I’d like to thank God for blessing me with the ability to play this game and the opportunities I have before me. I’d also like to thank the entire Louisville staff for their time and investment in me. After a lot of prayers and conversations with my family, I have decided to re-open my recruitment,” Cook said in a post on X.

Jake Cook has been working toward this moment for over two years now. He camped at Ohio State two summers ago with the hopes of earning the offer.

“Coach Frye told me he wants me to keep working and have a great sophomore season,” Cook told Lettermen Row two summers ago. “I’m working hard every day to be the best I can be.

““I’m going to be patient but my goal is to be like a Joshua Padilla and hopefully get the offer sometime next year. I just turned 15 and I know I’m young and have to prove myself. I’m willing to do that. It’s going to be about working to be the best offensive lineman in Ohio in the Class of 2025. A lot of Big Ten schools have been showing a lot of interest in me but I’m an Ohio Boy. Ohio State is my dream so I’m going to be waiting and working.”

Dream come true.

Five-star Bellefontaine (Ohio) quarterback Tavien St. Clair, four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela St Joseph running back Bo Jackson, three-star Philadelphia (Pa) St. Joseph’s Prep running back Isaiah West, four-star Toledo (Ohio) Whitmer offensive tackle Carter Lowe, four-star Washington (Okla) tight end Nate Roberts, wide receiver Quincy Porter, wide receiver De’Zie Jones, and wide receiver Bodpegen Miller round out the class for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes have assembled a master class defensively.

Five-star Plus+ cornerback duo Na’eem Offord and Devin Sanchez, four-star safety Faheem Delane, four-star safety DeShawn Stewart and three-star safety Cody Haddad are the secondary.

Linebackers TJ Alford and Eli Lee, and edge rushers Zahir Mathis and London Merritt make up the front seven.

Jake Cook has been waiting for this moment for two years. It’s a dream come true.
