Interior offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden commits to Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ohio State needed a win on the offensive line recruiting trail. The Buckeyes got one.
Four-star Washington D.C. Riverdale Baptist interior offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden has committed to Ohio State. The No. 395 overall prospect and No. 31 IOL prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings committed to the Buckeyes over Colorado, Maryland and South Carolina.
McFadden, at 6-foot-3.5, 270 pounds, gives the Buckeyes another versatile option in the offensive line class. While he’s projected as an interior offensive lineman — primarily a guard — McFadden has the arm length for tackle.
His journey to Ohio State was clear in retrospect. The only official visit McFadden took this offseason was to Ohio State the weekend of June 7. That weekend-long visit certainly changed things for him, his family and his entire recruitment.
“Columbus was good, man,” McFadden told Lettermen Row. “It’s always good to get down there and just feel the vibe with Coach Day and Coach Frye. But this right here, this was probably my best one yet.
“This one right here, it kind of just let me know exactly how they feel about me. And how I fit the system at Ohio State.”
“It was great, man. I couldn’t even really put it into words. The energy was there and it was just an overall good visit. My family liked it. It was an overall good visit for us.”
“It was just about how Coach Day and Coach Frye made me feel like I’m a priority for Ohio State. They want me there and they don’t want me anywhere else.”
