Ohio State commits see adjustments in latest On300 update
COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely recruits, lands commitments and signs some of the best players in the country.
The 2024 cycle has not been an exception for head coach Ryan Day and his staff. The Buckeyes have 22 verbal commitments in their 2024 class with the chance to add more throughout the fall. While some of the commits are going to be development projects for the staff, there is a handful that boasts impressive skill sets right now.
On3 updated its 2024 rankings Monday afternoon where several Ohio State commits land inside the On300. Lettermen Row breaks down the rankings update and where the Buckeyes’ commits land.
Let’s take a look.
Jeremiah Smith

- New Ranking: No. 2 overall, previously No. 2
Five-star Hollywood (Fla) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is inching toward that No. 1 overall prospect spot. The 6-foot-3, 198-pound wideout remains locked in at the No. 2 spot and is Ohio State’s highest-rated committed prospect.

- Status: Five-star
- New Ranking: No. 10 overall, previously No. 11

Four-star Springfield (Ohio) cornerback Aaron Scott Jr. remains the highest-rated Ohio prospect and one of the more elite cornerbacks in the 2024 cycle. The 6-foot, 180-pound cornerback hasn’t racked up many defensive statistics this season as a result of opponents’ game planning away from him.
Scott, however, has been a force in the playoffs with an interception in each game. Springfield won the regional championship over the weekend and plays in the state semifinal this weekend.

- Status: Four-star
- New Ranking: No. 39 overall, previously No. 42
Four-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla) St. Thomas Aquinas running back Jordan Lyle continues to see his stock in the On300 rankings rise. The third of three running backs committed to the Buckeyes has rushed for 901 yards and 14 touchdowns this fall.

Four-star St. Louis (Mo) Christian Brothers wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan saw another massive rise in his ranking. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound wide receiver is the third receiver committed to the Buckeyes’ 2024 class.
