Signed: Jeremiah Smith ends chaotic recruitment, sticks with Ohio State

The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2024 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Jeremiah Smith has signed with the Buckeyes.
COLUMBUS — Ohio State has officially ended one of the country’s most closely followed recruitments.
Jeremiah Smith has signed his letter of intent and come January, he will be part of the Ohio State wide receiver room.
Smith’s addition to the Buckeyes is a monster one for multiple reasons. Lettermen Row breaks down the latest signee from the 2024 class.
Who is Jeremiah Smith?
Jeremiah Smith is a five-star wide receiver prospect from Hollywood, Florida, and played at Chaminade-Madonna. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound wide receiver is the top-rated wide receiver prospect in the 2024 cycle and the top-rated overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Smith has been committed to Ohio State since Dec. 14, 2022, and would have committed to the Buckeyes earlier if he could.
There was speculation throughout his tenure as a verbal commitment that Smith would flip. Florida State, Florida and Miami all were contenders for the potential flip, but the five-star wide receiver remained adamant in his commitment to the Buckeyes.
In the end, the Buckeyes once again brought in one of the best wide receiver prospects in the country with the intent of seeing him leave in three years for the NFL.

How did Smith end up at Ohio State?
Ohio State is the place to be for wide receivers. What position coach Brian Hartline has done ever since he took over the room is nothing short of impressive.
The Buckeyes had been recruiting Smith since he was a freshman at Chaminade-Madonna. The writing was on the wall on his potential and then Smith worked that potential into reality.
His relationships with both Hartline and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day are a major factor in the reason why he’s going to Columbus as well.
“I know where I want to be and that’s Ohio State,” Smith told Lettermen Row in June.
“I want to be a first-round draft pick like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and soon Marvin Harrison Jr.” “So that’s what I’m gonna do and I’m gonna do that at Ohio State.”
