Lettermen Lounge: Importance of recent Jeremiah Smith visit, Western Kentucky guests
COLUMBUS — Ohio State is fully engaged in its home recruiting efforts. The Buckeyes hosted Youngstown State about a week ago and there were a number of committed prospects inside Ohio Stadium.
Among them was five-star Hollywoof (Fla) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was part of the Buckeyes’ 2023 home debut. And that’s where the conversation inside the latest episode of the Lettermen Lounge begins.
Co-hosts Spencer Holbrook and Matt Parker waste no time diving into the importance of Jeremiah Smith’s visit to Ohio State. The No. 1 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings had his pick of the litter in terms of visiting places. Namely the nearby Miami-Texas A&M game where the Hurricanes looked very competent.
Smith, however, instead chose to visit the place that has a proven track record of developing talents like him into first-round NFL draft picks.
Numerous Lettermen Row sources told us that Smith thoroughly enjoyed his visit and certainly was reminded of why he committed to Ohio State back in December. Not only was it important that Smith was on campus, but he got to spend plenty of time with the staff and 2024 classmates.
Aaron Scott Jr., Bryce West, Garrett Stover and Sam Williams-Dixon were all in the Horseshoe on Saturday. The chance to be outside of the group chat is significant and any opportunity to bond with guys who made the same decision as him matters.
The show continues into the Buckeyes’ week three matchup against Western Kentucky. Ohio State is hosting more targets with the odd 4 p.m. kickoff, but perhaps one of the most important is 2025 tight end Nate Roberts.

The four-star Washington (Okla) tight end will make a multi-day visit to Ohio State that starts on Friday and ends on Sunday evening. Roberts will be accompanied by his family throughout the trip. Many consider Oklahoma to be a slam-dunk winner in this recruitment, but the Lettermen Lounge breaks down why that might not be the case.
Roberts’s relationship with tight end coach Keenan Bailey is paramount in the Buckeyes’ recruiting efforts.

The show concludes with a note about 2025 five-star Houston (Texas) North Shore cornerback Devin Sanchez, who is very high on the Buckeyes.
