COLUMBUS — Joshua Mickens committed to LSU back in July and that’s where he intends to sign in December.

But that hasn’t stopped him from exploring his options.

The 2023 four-star Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central EDGE visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ game against Indiana on Saturday.

Mickens was one of the first visiting prospects to walk out of the tunnel at the south end of Ohio Stadium. He announced on his Instagram story early Saturday morning that he earned an Ohio State offer and then he proceeded to spend ample time with the Buckeyes’ defensive staff.

LSU recruiting analyst Billy Embody of The Bengal Tiger reported that Mickens will take in an official visit for the Ohio State-Michigan game on Nov. 26.

Lettermen Row sources have told us that while the visit isn’t locked in, it is in the works.

What does the offer mean for other Ohio State EDGE targets?

Joshua Mickens’ offer comes pretty late in the 2023 cycle, but it’s not indicative of the current situation for other major Buckeyes’ targets.

Ohio State remains a major contender for five-star EDGE Keon Keeley and Damon Wilson. It also is the trending front-runner for five-star defensive lineman Matayo Uiagalelei.

On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons broke the news that Wilson will make an unofficial visit to Columbus for the Ohio State-Michigan game. Wilson’s visit to Ohio State will be his second game-day visit this season.

He previously visited for the Notre Dame game on his official visit. Georgia is the other program seriously contending for Wilson’s pledge. He made his official visit to Athens in October and then returned a few weeks after for the Bulldogs’ game against Tennessee.

The Buckeyes’ game against Michigan in 13 days from now is sure to be a star-studded recruiting weekend.

And Joshua Mickens could make it even more interesting.
