COLUMBUS — Ohio State can inhale and exhale with a heavy sigh of relief in the mix.

Lincoln Kienholz has committed to the Buckeyes.

The four-star Pierre (S.D.) T.F. Riggs quarterback was originally committed to Washington, but in recent months had been pursued by Ohio State coach Ryan Day and quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis.

Kienholz is the No. 8 quarterback prospect and the No. 116 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle according to On3.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound signal-caller had an electrifying senior season at T.F. Riggs this fall. He completed over 65 percent of his passes for 3,422 yards and 46 touchdowns with only six interceptions. Kienholz added on 1,436 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns to boot as he won his fourth consecutive state championship.

While he might be an under-scouted prospect there is no denying that he is a real talent and an incredible find for the Buckeyes as the early signing period nears.

Ohio State and Kienholz were first connected back in mid-September when Dennis reached out. During the Buckeyes bye week in October, Dennis watched Kienholz lead his team to a 35-20 win.

“They said that they have one week to go out and watch a quarterback during their bye and they chose me so that felt pretty special,” Kienholz told Lettermen Row.

Keinholz now becomes the second quarterback to commit to Ohio State in the 2023 cycle. Four-star quarterback Brock Glenn was initially committed but flipped his pledge to Florida State in mid-November.

The Buckeyes’ new quarterback pledge gives them commit No. 20 to its 2023 class. Ohio State upfront offensively in the class has Luke Montgomery, Josh Padilla, Austin Siereveld and Miles Walker.

Surrounding the talented quarterback are wide receivers Brandon Inniss, Noah Rogers, Carnell Tate and Bryson Rodgers, and tight end Jelani Thurman.

While the Buckeyes still need to fill a hole at the running back position, they can rest easy now that they have an answer for a quarterback.

And that answer is Lincoln Kienholz.
