The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2024 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Gabe VanSickle has signed with the Buckeyes.
COLUMBUS — Ohio State knows that offensive linemen from the Midwest are going to be some of the toughest kids around.
So when the Buckeyes scouted and recruited Gabe VanSickle during his impressive senior season. He was originally committed to Northwestern, but Ohio State entered the picture and changed things for the Michigander.
Gabe VanSickle has officially honored his late verbal pledge to the Buckeyes and signed his letter of intent. But what does it mean moving forward?
Lettermen Row breaks it down.
Who is Gabe VanSickle?
Gabe VanSickle is a four-star interior offensive lineman from Coopersville, Michigan. He played his high school career at Coopersville High School.
Ohio State has projected VanSickle, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound prospect, as a guard but he has all the tools to play anywhere along the offensive line.
VanSickle made his debut visit to Ohio State during the Penn State game, and that was an official visit. He followed that up two weeks later and was on campus for the Michigan State game.

How did VanSickle end up at Ohio State?
Offensive line coach Justin Frye and the Buckeyes recruiting department certainly watched senior tape on a few kids, but VanSickle stood out.
Frye needed an aggressor – and the class has plenty – but VanSickle plays with a different level of passion. His senior tape highlights just how physical he is.
And when the Buckeyes entered the picture, his world expanded.
“Ohio State is the best fit for Gabe because of the combination of education and athletics,” Coopersville H.S. head coach Ed Kaman told our Alex Gleitman. “Gabe will attain an outstanding degree in engineering and play football at the highest level possible. The culture and team atmosphere in the O-line room are also a big part of the fit at Ohio State.”
